Irish gift cards: Apple, Epic and the high street

Ireland is a good shelf for everything except consoles. Which half you need decides whether this is your region.

The strong half

Apple in €5, €10, €25, €50, €75 and €100, so an Irish Apple ID is simple to keep fed. Epic from €10 to €150, Roblox €10 to €200, Twitch €15 to €100. Ticketmaster runs €5 to €100, which matters in a country that sells out a lot of gigs.

Then the high street: Nike, Adidas, Ikea from €5, H&M, Zalando, Mango, Foot Locker, Arsenal, Home Sense and Swarovski. See shopping.

Travel is unusually deep for a region this size. Airbnb, Hotels Gift, Lastminute.com, Global Hotel, Tours Gift, TripGift, Rentacar Gift, Fly Stay Gift and airline vouchers, mostly €30 to €200, all on the travel shelf.

The gap

No PlayStation, no Xbox, no Nintendo, no Google Play.

If your console account is Irish, this region can't top it up at the moment, and a card from a different country won't stand in: it will simply refuse to redeem. PlayStation by region and Xbox by region show where those cards currently live.

For a lot of Irish-account players the honest answer is to check whether the account is actually Irish rather than British. Find the country on your Microsoft account is the fastest way to be sure.

The Apple ID detail worth knowing

An Irish Apple ID takes Irish euro cards and nothing else, and Apple won't let you change the country while there's balance on the account. That catches people who've moved and tried to switch. Spend it down to zero first, or leave it where it is and keep topping it up with cards that match.
